FERIA (IV)
Collect (as on the Feast of the Epiphany): O God, Who on this day didst manifest Thine only-begotten Son to the Gentiles by the guidance of a star: graciously grant, that we, who know Thee now by faith, may be led to contemplate the beauty of Thy Majesty. Through the same Lord Jesus Christ our Lord, Who livest and reignest with God the Father in the unity of the Holy Ghost, world without end.
Lesson: From the Prophet Isaias 60:1-6
Gospel: Continuation of the holy Gospel according to St. Matthew 2:1-12.
ST. HYGINUS, Pope, Martyr (Comm.)
“Pope in the second century, St. Hyginus suffered martyrdom under the emperor Hadrian A.D. 142.”
Collect: Look forgivingly on Thy flock, Eternal Shepherd, and keep it in Thy constant protection, by the intercession of blessed Hyginus, Thy Martyr and Sovereign Pontiff, whom Thou didst constitute Shepherd of the whole Church. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Who livest and reignest with God the Father in the unity of the Holy Ghost, world without end.
Epistle: From the First Letter of Bl. Peter the Apostle 5:1-4, 10-11.
